Captain’s Log

About JMN

I live in Texas and devote much of my time to easel painting on an amateur basis. I stream a lot of music, mostly jazz, throughout the day. I like to read and memorize poetry.

Oh, thank you so much. “Poring” worked just fine, too. I meant “suspicious” in my “log.” It’s nice to hear from you. I’m in a sort of bubble of ecstasy, so to speak, since arriving Barcelona late Sunday. My daughter and 3 grandkids met me at the airport. In brief, since then, much tears, embraces, talk, laughter, healing retrospection, and the like. The family “mas” (farm) dates from 1901 in my son-in-law’s family, a walled compound with gigantic trees and riotous vegetation of varying sorts of fruits, all loomed over by a towering house that seems carved from stone, built for the ages. As I start to roam the grounds I envision efforts to render bits of it in the spirit, if not the accomplishment, of your work, which has inspired me a great deal. I hope to make a general post today signaling to my anxiously awaiting public (ahem !!) that my blog isn’t defunct! By the way, is it clear that I was joking about having to monitor the world for bad behavior so it could persist in its smartphone absorption? I hope so, otherwise it might seem I was spewing bilge from the crankpot express. There’s a lot of that about.
