Great painting – and ‘Yes’ from this Australian!

Thank you, Sue! Solidarity from “down under” is welcome! Is that phrase a tiresome cliché Australian persons? I hate to parrot those innocently. “Built like a Mack” is an ancient slogan here. Made in Pennsylvania, I think, they were the classic oil field trucks made for hard use. The specimen I snapped years ago in the small town I lived in was custom painted in the colors I’ve used and had ended life as a heavy-duty wrecker (for towing large disabled vehicles). I like to think (wishfully?) that my country can withstand the anti-democracy abuse it’s suffering. I’ve become aware that the truck and the recent clumsy little graphics I make for posts are reminiscent of the Ukrainian flag colors!

I do hope things start to look up in the US. At least Alex Jones has to pay damages to the Sandy Hook families – one small step in the right direction! (“Down-under” is a bit dated now I reckon, but the newly launched “Ruby the Roo” tourist campaign for Australia is equally cliched and cringeworthy!)

Whoa! “Ruby the Roo”! I’ll steer clear of that one. I’ll also park “down under” in the museum. You have the status of native informant on Australian-inflected language. We armchair linguists prize such a resource.

Oops, I meant to say also: You’re on top of the Sandy Hook saga — I saw the headline late yesterday. I do hope the families he brutalized get something out of the settlement. Jones will use every dodgy maneuver in the book (bankruptcy, etc.) to get out of paying them.
