Adam Kinzinger is a Republican Congressman from Illinois. His father has 32 cousins who join God and Fox in reviling Kinzinger for his apostasy.

The language makes me think there are many similarities between far-right Christian zealots and the zealots of ISIS and radical Islam. Not that they would want to think that!

Yes, you make an insightful observation. I’ve muttered to myself more than once something about the “Christian ayatollahs” who seem to be a backbone of the far right here. I intend no disrespect to other religions in which the term “ayatollah” is used. Thanks for your comment!
