Pentametered by the IAMB of God

“… Removing the sanction would require signing a profession of faith — written in Latin.”

(Elisabetta Povoledo, “Vatican Excommunicates Breakaway Group…,” New York Times, 7-2-26)

Latin up and listen, sons of human!
Behold, behold, behold — and lo! — behold!
Fall down upon your faces and adore Me!

Deem Me repetitive, exclamatory. So?
I gotta be Me! You gotta be Mine!
I gonna be your God come rain or shine!

Hark ye herein to words thereupon,
Exempli gratia and videlicet:

Lo! It shall come to pass that thou speakest
In iambic pentameters. Behold —
Thou shalt suffer thenceforth that the people
Hear not, rather look upon thee askance,
As at a speck of dung or hill of ants!
Remember only: I am That I am!
Lord of Hosts am I! IAMB! IAMB!

About JMN

I live in Texas and devote much of my time to easel painting on an amateur basis. I stream a lot of music, mostly jazz, throughout the day. I like to read and memorize poetry.
