Wampeters Are Catnip for Goon Balloons

Greatcoat fury.

Wampeters are catnip for goon balloons,
Slippery as deer guts on a doorknob,
Dark Davos in an amniotic greatcoat,
Wampum coined from oligarchs’ spittoons.
Treacly curls, puffed labia, eyeball moons —
A lecherous lapsarian’s heartthrob!
Wampeters are catnip for goon balloons,
Triggery as the fingers of an ICE mob.

About JMN

I live in Texas and devote much of my time to easel painting on an amateur basis. I stream a lot of music, mostly jazz, throughout the day. I like to read and memorize poetry.

  1. Delicious words – I admire your way of finding something clever and poetic about a pretty nasty situation, Jim!

    • JMN's avatar JMN says:

I considered whether to acknowledge Kurt Vonnegut’s invention (Wampeters, Foma and Gonfalloons) for borrowing his term for my flustered croaking. I’m glad for your reading of it, Sue.

      • Oh there you go – I hadn’t realised the Vonnegut connection (another addition to the things I learn from your posts). I think your ‘croakings’ are far from flustered and worth shouting aloud each morning!
